Legionella Water Treatment Technologies

Legionella is a bacteria that can cause a serious lung infection called Legionnaires’ disease. It is found in warm water, such as in hot water tanks, cooling towers, and spas. Legionella can grow and multiply in these environments, especially if the water is not properly treated.

There are a number of different methods used to treat Legionella in water, including chemical treatments, physical treatments, and a combination of both.

Chemical treatments use chemicals to kill or inhibit the growth of Legionella. Some common chemical treatments include chlorine, chlorine dioxide, and ozone. These treatments can be effective, but they can also be harmful to the environment and to people who come into contact with the treated water.

Innovative carbon nanotube (CNT) filters. CNT filters can remove Legionella from water more effectively than traditional filters.
Biofilms control. Biofilms are a sticky layer that can form on surfaces in water systems. Legionella can grow in biofilms, making it difficult to kill. New technologies are being developed to control biofilms and prevent Legionella from growing.
